A qualified specialist in high quality, professional photography, I am an incorporated member of British Institute of Professional Photography with over thirty years experience. Most of my work is with established clients or with new clients to whom I have been recommended.

I provide natural portrait photography at realistic prices, coupled with a truly personal and professional service. My subjects cover from infants, children, adults, families, pets, model portfolios to business personnel.

Pictures are usually taken in my 600 sq ft air-conditioned studio, in the grounds of my countryside home between Saffron Walden and Royston or on location.

Having built up a multi-million group of companies before selling and then concentrating on my love of photography, I have a real understanding of the practical needs of commerce and industry.

Although most of my work now revolves around photography, I am still engaged in business consultancy activities when time permits and am a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting.

Weddings

Your wedding day is unique and undoubtedly one of the most important days of your life. Your wedding photographs should be unique too and be a permanent reminder of this very special event. Wedding photographs should capture the whole atmosphere of the day as they will probably be the only permanent record you have. Because of this, it is important that you engage an experienced professional photographer who has the expertise and proper equipment to handle the job correctly.

With over thirty years experience in wedding photography and a proven track record, I am well known for my technique in producing beautiful, natural pictures as well as a selection of candid shots. It is my job and I love it and there are very many happy couples who have been carefully and creatively “captured” through the lens of one of my professional cameras. Indeed, I have photographed around 2000 weddings and I have 2000 very satisfied clients!

This is what I offer:-

• An initial personal meeting to discuss your requirements and to show you many examples of my work - at a time which suits you and all without any pressure or obligation whatsoever
• No decisions have to be taken regarding packages or albums until a few weeks after the wedding when you have had the opportunity to look at your photographs and decide what you would like
• My photography includes many informal candid shots, usually supported by an assistant photographer, as well as the more traditional (but relaxed) pictures. I have an association with other photographers in case of illness
• A meeting a little nearer the wedding date when we spend an hour or more discussing in detail your requirements
• At this meeting I offer and recommend a free “pre-wedding” photographic shoot which gives me the opportunity to see how you photograph together and you the chance to see how I work with the camera. These pictures are then sent to you, with my comments, a week or so later. This is a completely informal and enjoyable arrangement which establishes a good relationship ready for the wedding day. You will hopefully, by then, feel more like a friend than a client which is important if the very best results are to be achieved.
• Only the very finest Hasselblad and latest Nikon professional cameras are used and I always carry a spare set of equipment. Everything is checked and serviced regularly.
• I am very much aware of the irritation that can be caused by prolonged photographic sessions and therefore work fast to ensure that these are kept to the minimum of time
• Large 8” x 8” previews are available a week or so after the wedding. The candid shots are presented in a binder with a number of pictures on each page.
• Through my experience and extensive knowledge of this region, I am pleased to give any help I can with regard to wedding etiquette, reception venues, florists, video, cars, caterers, dressmakers etc
• Although I have covered and am recommended by most of the venues in the area, if a wedding is being held at an unfamiliar location I always make a pre-visit. I also meet couples at the venue before the wedding day should this be considered necessary

Portraiture

A good portrait is achieved from a number of factors – lighting, composition, posing, creative style and technical excellence – but probably the most important of all is a good rapport between the subject and the photographer.

I love photographing people and with over 30 years experience I am able to offer clients a “sitting” in my 600sq ft air conditioned studio or in the adjoining grounds of my countryside home at Bilden End, near Chrishall (or at an alternative location by arrangement) just off the B1039 midway between Royston and Saffron Walden.
